Ethical Analytics: Creating Data-Driven Culture

This talk will focus on the intersection of business, data and ethics — beginning with the case for creating a data-driven culture then delving into the common pitfalls, ethical issues and flawed processes that undermine that culture. The three take-aways for attendees will be: (1) practical, actionable tactics that can help anyone — from a junior analyst to a c-level executive — uncover if data or the story it purports to support are being manipulated; (2) proven approaches for how organizations can implement a data-driven culture and secure buy-in from stakeholders of all levels; (3) example principles & processes that can be used to support an ethical, data-driven culture.

GDPR Is Coming: How Will It Affect You?

Jeff Herron, Co-Founder and EVP, Beaconfire RED
Sara Hoffman, Digital Analyst and Optimization Lead, Beaconfire RED

Do you have European constituents in your databases? If so, this is the session for you! There are new laws that may apply to your nonprofit called the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations), which go into effect May 25. And contrary to popular opinion, these laws do apply to US nonprofits if they are collecting data from EU citizens. GDPR is designed to make sure people have control over their personal information and what it is being used for.

Find out what you need to do before May 25!

Learning Objectives

  • Understand what these laws mean for your organization
  • Identify what you need to do to be compliant
  • Understand why it’s not all bad
